Family Baked Beans


  • 2 lbs Jacobs Cattle Beans (you may substitute soldier beans if needed)
  • 1 cup pure Fuller’s Sugarhouse maple syrup (Grade B is recommended but Dark Amber will also give you plenty of flavor)
  • 1/3 cup Fuller’s Sugarhouse Maple Dry Sugar (or you may increase the maple syrup by 1/4 cup instead)
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • A nice size piece of Salt Pork
  • Large yellow onion, peeled and uncut


  1. After you have picked over your beans and rinsed them, cover them with water and soak overnight
  2. In the morning, parboil the beans until the skins peel back when you blow on them
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 9 hours
  4. Check them from time to time to see if extra water is needed
